Do you feel 'off' but your blood tests come back normal? · Schedule an appointment to get the best salivary hormone tests available. · Salivary hormone testing is
a much more sensitive view into the hormonal system than traditional blood tests. Salivary testing tests for the free-fraction
hormone (opposed to the protein-bound hormone) therefore giving a much more accurate view of what is going on in the body.
These are great tests for men and women alike, commonly measuring thyroid, adrenal, gonadal, and cycling hormone levels with

It Really Too Much Stomach Acid? Digestion is one of the foundations to our health. Do you know somebody with poor digestion? Half of U.S. adults have poor
digestion, and most of those are diagnosed with a "hyperacidic stomach". In fact, it is estimated that 90%
of the symptoms of too much stomach acid are actually caused by low stomach acid. This article specifically talks about issues
such as GERD (gastroesophogeal reflux disease), heart burn, acid reflux and ulcers.
The stomach is supposed to
have a low pH of 1 to 3. The higher the stomach pH (4, 5 or 6 for example), the less ability you have to digest your proteins
and minerals and the more prone your food is to fermenting and putrefying instead of dissolving and being broken down into
the smaller ion's your body needs for biochemical processes.
Acid stopping medications are the top selling
drug in the country and are now available over the counter. Originally these medications were strictly regulated and were
meant to be used only for a six week period, mainly to help heal ulcers.
The Problems
- A low pH is designed to
sterilize food. Without the proper acidity, a person becomes susceptible to food and water borne parasites (most of which
are undetected by the common lab tests) and bacteria.
- Protein
and Mineral digestion and absorption require a strong pH of the stomach. Lack of gastric acidity causes disappearance of electrolytes
(sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium, bicarbonate) from the body.
- Low
stomach acidity and the malabsorption of minerals may cause bone density issues. (Remember that drugs like Fosamax make tests
look good, but do not decrease the fracture rate.)
The Physiological Facts
- Physiology
textbooks tell us that stress (part of the sympathetic nervous system) suppresses the digestive system. Digestion is part
of the parasympathetic nervous system. Know anyone who's stressed?
- Eating
under stress, in a hurry, or in a depressed or angry mood allows the food to sit and putrefy, causing fermentation to take
place. This fermentation causes gases to be released and move upward instead of down (the normal movement of the stomach contents).
- Pancreatic enzymes along with liver and gall bladder function (other critical parts of digestion) require
a strong pH to be "turned on".
- The esophageal
sphincter (also known as the Hiatal sphincter at the bottom of the esophagus) does not work as efficiently (close as tightly)
when the stomach is too alkaline. When the stomach churns the food, trying to expose as much of the surface area as possible
to the deficient acid, there will often be a 'splashing' of acid into the esophagus.
- The
stomach lining is designed to handle strong acid. Raising the pH over an extended amount of time with acid blockers (or a
diet high in alkaline foods) causes the gastric mucosa to diminish. The mucosal layer protects the strong acid from digesting
the stomach. Without the proper pH of 1-3, food is given the opportunity to ferment and this action starts to destroy the
protective mucosal layer. This is why it is so hard to discontinue using acid stopping medications the acid causes pain in
the stomach when the protective lining is diminished.
The Solution
Depending on the issue, different
modalities can be used to restore the stomachs function. These treatments fall into two broad categories. If you have burning,
the ulcers will need to be healed and any H.Pylori infection will need to be eliminated. This is best done with digestive
enzymes on an empty stomach as well as other things such as bentonite clay, oil-based chlorophyll and concentrated okra tablets.
For indigestion without burning (or the second phase of the above solution), use a hydrochloric acid supplement
or 1-2 Tbs. of apple cider vinegar in 4 oz. of water before meals to enhance HCL production and digestion.
The
natural approach used at Balance Point Wellness utilizes food based nutrients to heal your digestive tract. If you or someone
you know suffers from one of these digestive issues, send them in. Sooner or later they will thank you.
NOTE: * It is very important to ween off of proton pump inhibitors. Stopping these medications abruptly will inevitably cause
problems with reflux and burning. * If you have been on acid blockers or neutralizers for a long period of time you
may need to have your bone density checked (but stay away from Fosamax).

Tips to Improve Memory Quickly Having a good memory has more to do with your strategy
than it does with your mental hardware. The people that have great memories follow a strategic process, based on the
technology of Neuro-Linguistics Programming (NLP). There are an infinite number of ways to learn how to spell. Most of the average to poor spellers learn
phonetically. That means learning to spell based on the sounds of the letters and words -- an auditory strategy. It
turns out that this strategy is not the most effective way to become a great speller; the real trail-blazers learn how
to spell visually -- a visual strategy. If you want to improve your memory, start using a visual strategy. You
can start right away with these 3 tips: 1. Begin to access your visual cues. Access the visually
memorable part of your brain by looking up and to the left. When you look up and to the left you access your visual
memory. These are the pictures, images and movies that have flashed on your mind from the past. 2.
Another way to use this approach is in conversation. The next time you speak with someone, be sure to play with the visual
strategy. When someone is speaking to you, start to create pictures and images in your mind. Listen to people as if
they were telling you a story. And as they tell you their story, build a motion picture in your mind. The richer
the pictures, the easier it will be to remember. 3. Practice changing your physiology. Make
sure to speak to someone by keeping your head up and shoulders back. Stand up straight when possible. This makes
it much easier to look up and make pictures.

At the age of 97 years and 4 months, Shigeaki Hinohara is one of the world's
longest-serving physicians and educators. He has been healing patients at St. Luke's International Hospital in Tokyo and
teaching at St. Luke's College of Nursing since 1941. He has published around 150 books since his 75th birthday, including one "Living Long, Living Good" that has sold more than 1.2
million copies. As the founder of the New Elderly Movement, Hinohara encourages others to live a long and happy life, a quest
in which no role model is better than the doctor himself: Energy comes from feeling
good, not from eating well or sleeping a lot. Hinohara says we all remember how as children, when we were having fun,
we often forgot to eat or sleep. He believes that we can keep that attitude as adults, too, and that it's best not to
tire the body with too many rules such as lunchtime and bedtime. All people who live long -- regardless of nationality,
race or gender -- share one thing in common: None are overweight. Always plan ahead.
His schedule book is already full until 2014. In 2016 he plans to attend the Tokyo Olympics! Share what you know. Hinohara gives 150 lectures a year, some for 100 elementary-school children, others for
4,500 business people. When a doctor recommends you take a test or have some surgery, ask whether the doctor would suggest
that his or her spouse or children go through such a procedure. Contrary to popular belief, doctors can't cure everyone
-- so why cause unnecessary pain with surgery? Hinohara thinks that music and animal therapy can help more than most doctors
imagine. To stay healthy, always take the stairs and carry your own stuff. He
take two stairs at a time, to get his muscles moving. Pain is mysterious, and having
fun is the best way to forget it. Hospitals must cater to the basic need of patients, and we all want to have fun. Don't be crazy about amassing material things. Remember: You don't know
when your number is up, and you can't take it with you to the next place. Science
alone can't cure or help people. Illness is individual. Each person is unique, and diseases are connected to their
hearts. To know the illness and help people, there is a need for liberal and visual arts, not just medical ones. Life is filled with incidents. On March 31, 1970, when Hinohara was 59 years old, he boarded
the Yodogo, a flight from Tokyo to Fukuoka. The plane was hijacked by the Japanese Communist League-Red Army Faction. He spent
the next four days handcuffed to his seat. As a doctor, he looked at it all as an experiment and was amazed at how his body
slowed down in a crisis. Find a role model and aim to achieve even more than
they could ever do. Hinohara's role model was his father, who went to the United States in 1900 to study at Duke University
in North Carolina. It's wonderful to live long. Since the age of 65, Hinohara has worked as a volunteer. He still
puts in 18 hours seven days a week, and loves every minute of it.
