What does it treat?
What does Acupuncture Treat? Injuries? Migraines? Fertility? Depression?
Allergies?
Oriental medicine is used to treat many disorders and conditions. In a report compiled by the
World Health Organization (WHO), both the WHO and the National Institute of Health (NIH) have agreed on conditions that have
been clinically proven to effectively treat the following conditions, symptoms, and diseases:
•
low back pain • neck pain • sciatica •
tennis elbow • knee pain • periarthritis of the shoulder • sprains • facial pain (including craniomandibular disorders) •
headache • dental pain • tempromandibular (TMJ) dysfunction • rheumatoid arthritis • induction of labor • correction
of malposition of fetus (breech presentation) • morning sickness • nausea
and vomiting • postoperative pain • stroke •
essential hypertension • primary hypotension • renal colic • leukopenia • adverse reactions to radiation or chemotherapy •
allergic rhinitis, including hay fever • biliary colic • depression
(including depressive neurosis and depression following stroke) • acute bacillary dysentery • primary dysmenorrheal • acute epigastralgia •
peptic ulcer • acute and chronic gastritis
This list is a bit dated and awaits
an update from recent clinical trials, so don’t be discouraged if you don’t see your condition. This was the only
medical practice in China for thousands of years making it the world’s oldest and most complete form of medicine, which
means that there is a treatment for almost everything. It works well as a stand-alone treatment, as well as in accompaniment
with western medication and therapy. Often, at Balance Point Acupuncture, nutritional therapy (link to nutrition) and detoxification
(link to detox) are incorporated into your wellness plan in order to bring the most benefits to your whole health and leave
you feeling at your best.
I have been trained to address all diseases through the framework of the yin-yang, the
five elements, heat-cold, and interior-exterior. Through these 8 diagnostic methods, all diseases can be classified and treated
effectively. That said, I really enjoy helping people with emotional disorders such as depression, anxiety and stress. I also
have good success in treating women’s disorders such as symptoms associated with PMS, irregular cycles and infertility.
Pain and allergies are also something that I enjoy helping people through.
